We have hit the ground running and have been very busy in the bakery; we’ve already baked 100 loaves for Hounslow FoodBox, just throughout the month of January, thanks so much to our customers who sponsor loaves to top up our regular donations.

After a lovely festive break, I like to look back with thankfulness and forward with hope.

We are now in the big countdown and all our planning, if we’ve managed it, will really pay off. No worries if you don’t feel ready, we’ve found that the key is to pace yourself and make lots of lists!

The clocks have gone back, there’s a chill in the air and we are looking forward to all that this new season will bring.

You would be forgiven for thinking that this post is all about bread, well there is some coming up, but we have been thinking a lot about all the little choices we make every day and how they have an impact on not just our health and finances, but also the environment.

Hip hip hooray! It’s always good to give a cheer and, whilst we are jolly proud of our recent awards, we’ve also been delighted to welcome a team of heroes for the day, supporting Help for Heroes with a bee keeping experience for a group of wounded injured and sick veterans.

Phew it’s hot, but you won’t catch me complaining…
We’ve just come back from a fabulous holiday in France to discover that the figs are ripe and fit to burst, the bees are busy scooting around for the final forage of the season and our sweetcorn plants are reaching for the sky. -
I love June and, whilst it’s usually mad dogs and Englishmen that throw caution to the wind, we’ve been getting out in the midday sun – and have had a great time!
Often with the best weather of the year, we’ve been teaching in schools, running around after swarms of bees and cooling off with regular swims in west London lakes.

Those who have known me a while may remember the years that I spent working with ACET teaching sex education in schools, now I delight in teaching hundreds of children each year all about ‘the Birds and the Bees’
