Good Wreath!

With Christmas Day literally one month away, Stir Up Sunday is behind us, the Advent Calendars will be refilled and displayed this weekend, and we are busy foraging for foliage as we prepare for the Big Christmas Wreath Week!

It’s great to have wreaths made and on display throughout Advent and up to Epiphany. As evergreens, they are a reminder that not all is dead in winter and their endless ring is a symbol of God’s never ending love for us as he came to earth, as baby Jesus, that first Christmas.

As I write there are a few tickets left on each course, festive refreshments are provided or available to buy at each event, and we’ll supply all that you need to create a wreath to be proud of.

New Courses for Next Year!

If you are thinking about gifts for others, or want to add something to your own wish list, let me tell you about a couple of brand new courses that have just been published for next year. First up is Making Cheddar, Stilton & Sourdough an exciting *TWO DAY COURSE*, created due to popular request…

This special course has been designed to help you master hard cheese and sourdough bread in ‘real time’. Over the TWO days, you will develop your artisan culinary skills as we separate curds and whey, press cheeses overnight, stretch and fold sourdough bread and so much more… Full details here.

Each summer our Bee Keeping courses are always popular, be that for adults or children, and again, in response to requests, we’ve created a new course Bees for Teens, which will be set at a higher level than our original family course. This is run in the school holidays, is open to High School Students, and we ask that an adult accompanies all participants that are under 18. Full details here.

Other news:
  • I’ve checked on the honey bees, seven colonies across three apiaries, each are doing well and have food for winter
  • We’ve made the first of our Christmas puddings and have included our home grown figs this year
  • A old water storage tank is being repurposed to harvest (all that) rain water on the allotment
