Be Prepared – Part Four

| 9th December 2015

The big countdown…

Wow! We have made a serious number of Christmas wreaths here at Hen Corner on courses, corporate events and to sell through our online store, a big thanks to Syon House Estate who have allowed us to collect yew tree trimmings to use in the wreaths, we really appreciate their support! As in recent weeks, our pattern continues with ‘Something for You’ – an inspiring Christmassy event and ‘Something for Them’ – great gift ideas. You can find our full series of Festive Top Tip Films on our Christmas Page along with full details of all our Christmas courses and events.

Christmas in the ParkSomething for You

If you are around West London this weekend, then do come to the new Christmas in the Park event organised by Equippers Church on Sunday 13th December. The afternoon starts at 3.30pm with a Christmas Market and we are delighted to be bringing the Hen Corner stall to join the other traders, including our friends Teapigs, in St Paul’s Rec, Brentford. There are activities planned for all ages rounded off with some carol singing at 5pm.

Following on from last week’s post recommending the new Teapigs book and their lovely teas as gift ideas, they have very kindly given us a discount code that you can use for Christmas shopping and right throughout next year! The code for our readers is HENCORNER (upper case) and will give 20% off everything except cheeky deals and gift packs. Valid until 31st December 2016. Thank you Teapigs!

RAW-Spoon-CarvingSomething for Them

The gift of a new skill makes a wonderful Christmas present and we are really excited about a very special new course that we are hosting next year – Spoon Carving.

Perfect for all the wood whittlers, pocket knife carriers and hunter-gatherers in your life! We’ve invited experienced craftsman, Thomas Bickerdike, as our guest tutor to lead this small group wood-craft course at Hen Corner. Thomas has over 30yrs experience working with wood both as a joiner and cabinet-maker, he has spent several years developing this craft and you can check out his Spoon Carving Update here

This special course, with only four places available, is designed to give an introduction to green wood carving and we will supply all the tools and equipment needed to carve your own spoon. Throughout the day, guests will grow in knowledge, develop skills and explore opportunities that can be incorporated into everyday life. The price for this full day course including lunch and all refreshments is £90.00 per person and can be booked in here.

Our ‘Micro Bakery’ has just two more bake days this year and we have one final bread training course before Christmas to equip you to master some baking techniques that you can use over the holiday period. We will be adding a festive twist to this special course so come and learn how to make Apricot & Walnut bread, Cinnamon Swirls and so much more at Bread: Sweet & Savoury on Tuesday 15th December.
