This morning, I chatted to Esther Higham on her show Inspirational Breakfast on Premier Radio.
She was in a warm studio wearing a fluffy jumper and I was at The Serpentine in London’s Hyde Park in my swimming costume. With an air temperature of -4.5c and a water temperature of 1.5c, we had to smash ice before we got in to swim!
As a lover of finding the country in the city, open water swimming allows me to be immersed in nature along with views of The Shard. Esther and I talked about how I find my swimming good for the body, mind and soul; in the summer, a long swim allows time for quiet contemplation, meditation and prayer, whilst a short dip in the winter focusses the mind on priorities and playing with ice in the water is simply a joyful experience!

Wow, how cool! Well done, I may start open water swimming this spring… 🙂
I love it!
Be careful in the spring, the water warms with the summer sun – September is the warmest!
