Country Living Spring Fair – Come and Join us!

| 9th March 2019

28th -31st March – Alexandra Palace

We are so excited as we prepare for this year’s Country Living Magazine Spring Fair – We’ll be there, complete with a clutch of chickens, and will be based in the Smallholding area as one of the first things you see as you enter the event. This year will be extra special as it’s before Easter, allowing us to demonstrate Hot Cross Buns in the Country Living Kitchen, and the dates include Mother’s Day making for a perfect family treat. It’s also the first fair since becoming a regular columnist with the magazine. So keep reading for a chance to win free tickets (and a discount code if you don’t win)…

As well as having our own ‘Hen Corner’ of the fair, I will be giving daily talks and demonstrations:

The Good Life Theatre is where I’ll be talking each day about Bees in the City and Keeping Chickens in London

The Country Living Kitchen will be where I’m baking Hot Cross Buns each day at 11am

The Country Living Stage hosts a number of guest speakers and Andy and I have been invited to tell the story of Hen Corner in a special session ‘Turning your Hobby into a Business’ on both Friday and Sunday.

Every guest can hug a hen!

***Win Free Tickets***

We are fortunate to have been give Ten Pairs of free tickets for this year’s Country Living Spring Fair especially for subscribers of Hen Corner. To enter our competition, simply subscribe (top right or bottom of page) and leave a comment telling us why you’d like to come and who you’d bring with you. We will choose ten names at random on Thursday 21st March, announce them on the website and contact winners directly. (Competition closes Wed 20th March at midnight.)

If you don’t win, never fear, as friends of Hen Corner can get 20% off tickets by using the discount code CLSAMBASSADOR20 at the online box office.

Other news:

  • It was great to get a shout out in this feature about Brentford in the Guardian
  • Our cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers are well underway in the propagator
  • Baking bread in the wood-fired oven with Cultivate London has got me very excited about building one here, just need to agree on where!

Jobs for the week:

  • Burn the old brood frames from the hives – I move the bees onto new frames each spring to keep them clean and healthy
  • Prepare the garden for visitors, we’ve got chicken courses and school groups visiting
  • Get the hens washed and blow dried ready for the show (I’m not joking!)

Have a good week!

Sara

I would love to come to the country living spring fair for a lovely spring day out and to get some inspiration for projects we can do in the kitchen and garden and hopefully eat a few hot crossed buns! I would bring my daughter with me for a lovely girls day out and to learn some new things.

I would love to come to the Country Living Spring Fair with my friend Jackie to give a well deserved treat and some time off from caring for Auntie who is very poorly. It would be lovely for us to spend some quality time learning even more. about the things we already love and for me to gain the confidence to put the chicken coop together that sits in my garden and get some girls

Vivien Longley
I’ve a date on Sunday 31st with my ex colleague Tim. We both spend our weekends with our ageing parents in other parts of the country. We are having a weekend off. Can’t imagine anything more pleasant than hanging, eating, looking and learning at the Fair oh and perhaps the odd beer
