Good News, Good News, Good News!

| 5th May 2020

We have got so much good news to share with you this week. First, we are announcing the winners of our 10th Anniversary Draw, then we are telling you all about Celebrate at Home with Country Living, finally, we’ve transitioned a number of our courses to online/virtual sessions allowing you to join us via Zoom to learn new skills. Good news all round, yes?

Our lovely winners…

Our last post was a celebration of Ten Years at Hen Corner and we invited subscribers to enter a draw to win TWO FREE TICKETS to any course at Hen Corner as soon as we are able to run them again. Congratulations to Lilidh Matthews who plans to join us for Pick and Pickle in September. We ran another celebration draw for all previous course guests and Ann Rolfe was the lucky winner there, she’ll be joining us for Cheese in a Day as soon as possible!

This exciting event THIS WEEKEND is bringing all the fun of the fair straight into your hands and home! Talks, demonstrations and exclusive offers from the wonderful artisan producers that showcase with Country Living Magazine.

We are delighted to be part of the fabulous line up on both days at 11.30am. On Saturday 9th May, we’ll be introducing you to our Chickens and Bees and on Sunday 10th May, we’ll be making Elderflower Cordial in the garden. Join us via the Live Facebook Event here.

To find out more about the Country Living Artisan Producers, and their special offers head over to Instagram.

We are Zooming all over the world!

Whilst we are currently staying home, the wonders of technology allow us to meet up virtually and continue to encourage each other, share opportunities and learn new skills that we can use for a lifetime.

Over recent weeks, I’ve had many people contact me about keeping chickens and making bread and, as always, we want to cheer you on and support you, as you start to live more sustainably and get involved in your own food production. Our first online/virtual courses are already open for bookings and we hope to add more in the coming weeks.

I know that many people are starting to consider making Sourdough Bread, here’s a short film to help you get going, this is another course that we hope to offer online soon.

Alongside these, we’ve been filming at the bee hives, extending our wifi reach and hope to offer virtual sessions from here as well.

So good news all round, yes?

Other news:

  • We were invited to join the Cook Book Festival for an Instagram Live interview
  • I’ve been digging up the brambles and planting potatoes at the allotment
  • Our weekly bakery is more popular than ever – we’ve been baking for up to 80 households a week!

Jobs for the week:

  • Celebrate the VE Day 75th Anniversary with afternoon tea
  • Join Celebrate at Home via the Facebook Event to answer questions
  • Try and track down some new jars to bottle up the honey we have in buckets

Have a wonderful week, enjoy the sunshine!

Sara

Hi Nicola, thanks for this, I’ve just put a few dates in for now to see what interest there is… We’ve got a lunchtime Introduction to Bread on Tuesday 2nd June.
Which courses would you be interested in?

Thanks Nicola,
We’ve got it in three parts: a good Introduction to the skills and a versatile recipe followed by both Savoury and Sweet sessions if guests want to learn more… Initially, they are on Tuesday mornings at 10am, but we are also trialing a 12-2pm session for people working from home to do in a (longer) lunch break…

We are also thinking about late afternoon sessions, 4-6pm. Might this work for you Nicola?

It depends on my work commitments but thank you so much for thinking so flexibly. I shall find the right course for me I’m sure.
